Tru72 Albany · Mid-Willamette Valley

Albany's diagnostic-first HVAC.

We don't guess. We test. Older Albany bungalows, Willamette Valley farmhouses with attics that bake in July, Corvallis homes the central system never quite reaches — every call starts with real measurements, so the recommendation matches your actual home. Three generations of craftsmen, still working from the original 1972 Larsell shop at 815-A SE 1st Ave E.

Describe the problem. We'll translate it into a system.

Most Albany calls start with one of these three sentences.

  • Something's wrong and I don't know what.

Furnace, heat pump, A/C or ductless. We run instrumented diagnostics, find the actual failing component and quote the actual repair. Tested. Quoted. Fixed.

$72 diagnostic, credited toward the repair.

  • My system is on borrowed time.

Manual J load calculation against your actual home. Right-sized equipment from Daikin or Goodman. Ductwork evaluated before the contract, and the Energy Trust rebate filed at install. Sized. Verified. Installed.

  • I'd rather catch problems early than fix emergencies.

Tru Comfort is a spring A/C diagnostic and a fall heating diagnostic — two seasonal touchpoints that measure system performance and flag the components trending toward failure. Free for life through Mission Ready.

MotiveSales-driven.Data-driven.

Every Albany service call starts with a measurement.

Then you decide. Tru72 technicians run instrumented diagnostics on every call — refrigerant pressures, capacitor microfarads, airflow static pressure, temperature differential across the coil. You see the data, you see the cost, you see the options.

  1. Repairs — the cheaper, correct fix.

A capacitor that measures 12 µF when the manufacturer spec is 35 µF is the failure, not a symptom. We catch the part that's actually broken instead of defaulting to the expensive, common guess.

What it means: "Looks like a bad compressor" is not a diagnosis. A pressure reading is.

  2. Replacements — right-sized through Manual J.

We size your new heat pump or furnace by Manual J load calculation against your actual Willamette Valley home: square footage, insulation, infiltration, climate zone. A right-sized system runs efficiently for 15+ years.

What it means: An oversized system short-cycles itself to an early grave. We won't sell you one.

  3. Indoor air quality — measured, not assumed.

Wet winters, dry summers, wildfire smoke season. We measure your home's humidity, particulates and allergen levels room by room before recommending equipment.

What it means: Match the solution to the measurement. Not to the discomfort.

What we do in the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Six services, dispatched from the shop on 1st Avenue.

  • Heat Pumps

Manual J on every install. One system heats and cools. The Energy Trust rebate filed at install.

  • Furnace Service & Replacement

Combustion analyzer on every call. Heat exchanger inspected, not assumed.

  • Air Conditioning

Refrigerant charged by weight. Equipment sized to your actual home.

  • Ductless Mini-Splits

Older Albany homes, ADUs, additions, converted attics. Manual J per zone — and we service mini-splits we didn't install, which most companies won't do.

  • Indoor Air Quality

Humidity, particulates and allergens measured room by room before any equipment is recommended. Wildfire-smoke filtration, dehumidifiers, UV, fresh-air ventilation.

  • Home Performance Testing

Blower-door test, duct leakage measurement, infrared thermal imaging. Where your Willamette Valley home is losing comfort and energy, with numbers.

Same shop. Same values. Same standard since 1972.

The trucks are newer. The instruments are better. The shop, the family discipline and the way the work gets done are exactly where they started.

Trade Ally for the Mid-Willamette Valley. Rebates filed at install.

Tru72 Albany is an active Energy Trust of Oregon Trade Ally. Qualifying heat pump rebates are filed at the time of installation, which means homeowners see the rebate as a discount on the invoice rather than a six-week reimbursement.

Who the heat pump money is actually for: homes served by PGE or Pacific Power, where the new heat pump replaces electric heat. A ducted system has to replace an electric forced-air furnace and rate HSPF2 7.50 or better. A ductless one has to replace electric resistance heat in the main living space, rate HSPF2 8.10 or better, and put its largest indoor head in that room. Neither can have a gas backup, and if an electric furnace stays on as auxiliary heat the thermostat lockout has to be set to 35°F or lower. One ductless incentive per home.

The extended capacity figure needs a central ducted system on a traditional air handler that meets CEE Tier 1 Path A — slim-duct types don't qualify. The smart thermostat incentive runs the other way round: it is for a home heated by a gas forced-air furnace, and it drops to $100 if the installer isn't actively licensed.

The right-hand column is the amount for a rental, for an attached home — a duplex, triplex, fourplex, townhome or rowhome — or for a household enrolled in Energy Trust's Savings Within Reach. The application has to be in within 60 days of the install. We file it.

Two other programmes can stack on top: Oregon's Heat Pump Purchase Program, run by the Oregon Department of Energy, and the federal HEAR rebates for income-qualified households. Both move, so we confirm what is open and what it is worth at the assessment rather than print a figure here. Your tax professional can help you identify and file for any applicable state or federal credits or rebates.

Figures are Energy Trust of Oregon's own, from its Oregon Residential Incentive Information Sheet effective January 1, 2026 (PI 0320I v2026.1). Incentives depend on funding and are subject to change.

About Tru72 Albany.

Plain answers from a diagnostic-first crew.

What is Tru72 Heating & Cooling, Albany?

Tru72 Heating & Cooling, Albany is the diagnostic-first residential HVAC contractor operating from the original 1972 Larsell Mechanical Service shop at 815-A SE 1st Ave E in Albany, Oregon. The location serves Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Tangent, Millersburg, Jefferson, and the surrounding Mid-Willamette Valley.

What cities does Tru72 Albany cover?

Tru72 Albany serves Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Tangent, Millersburg, Jefferson, Halsey, Brownsville, Harrisburg, Philomath, Adair Village, Crabtree, Scio, Sweet Home, and South Salem. Same-day service is available across most of the area when you call before 2 p.m.

Is the Albany shop still at 815-A SE 1st Avenue?

Yes. The original Larsell Mechanical Service shop at 815-A SE 1st Ave E has been in continuous operation since April 1972. The trucks have updated, the instruments have improved, the name on the door changed to Tru72 in 2025. The location and the operating standard have not.

How does the $72 diagnostic fee work?

Tru72 charges a $72 service-call fee for diagnostic visits. This fee covers the labor cost of real instrumented diagnostics, not just a truck roll. If you proceed with the recommended repair, the $72 is credited toward the repair. Tru Comfort members pay a reduced diagnostic fee, and Mission Ready Plan members — first responders, teachers, military — pay $39.

Is Tru72 Albany an Energy Trust of Oregon Trade Ally?

Yes. Tru72 Albany is an active Energy Trust of Oregon Trade Ally. Qualifying heat pump rebates are filed at the time of installation, which means homeowners see the rebate as a discount on the invoice rather than a reimbursement they wait six weeks for.

What HVAC equipment brands does Tru72 install in Albany?

Tru72 Albany is an authorized dealer of Daikin and Goodman equipment. Every replacement begins with a Manual J load calculation against your actual home rather than a "same as before" assumption, so the recommended system matches your home's real heating and cooling load.

How quickly can Tru72 Albany respond to a no-heat call?

Most no-heat and no-cool calls inside Albany city limits and the immediate Mid-Willamette Valley get a same-day visit when reported before 2 p.m. For after-hours emergencies, the 24/7 emergency dispatch line is staffed and routes calls to on-call technicians around the clock.
